Cultivating Excellence at High Altitudes
While others chase volume, we pursue purity. Each harvest, we selectively handpick lots from Ethiopia’s highest elevations, then meticulously tailor process to highlight the region’s signature floral brightness and tropical fruit complexity. Our smallholder partners—guardians of heirloom variety mainly 74158 passed down through generations—share this obsession, ensuring every microlot doesn’t just showcase Sidama’s terroir, but elevates it.

We are renowned for our classic natural and washed process coffees
Which beautifully expresses the unique terroir of our region. But our pursuit of excellence doesn’t stop there. By embracing controlled fermentation, we unlock new dimensions in flavor. Using coffee-derived materials like Mossto, cascara, and mucilage, we craft distinctive, small-lot coffees that push boundaries while honoring sustainability. This diverse processing approach allows us to offer our customers exceptional, competition-worthy coffees, whether they seek the purity of tradition or the excitement of innovation. For those who compete at the highest levels, our experimental lots provide a competitive edge, proving that great coffee is both an art and a science.
Our Speciality ccoffee
Variety
Our main varietal is 74158, developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) for disease resistance and superior cup quality. It’s perfectly suited for high-altitude farms and embodies the true potential of Ethiopian coffee genetics. We also obtained seeds from the famous farm in Panama, Elida, belonging to the Lamastus family, in 2024 through our friends Andrea and Erik. In 2025, we received additional seeds from legend himself, Mr. Wilford. First seeds are now transferred to the farm in April 2025.

Empowering Communities Through Coffee
Beyond producing exceptional coffee, Alo Coffee Export PLC is deeply committed to uplifting the local community. Collaborating with 60 farmers at the Alo Washing Station and an additional 800 across other stations, the company reinvests profits into community development projects, including the establishment of schools and seedling nurseries. Moreover, quality bonuses are distributed during periods when farming families face financial challenges, ensuring sustained support and empowerment.
